Public Relations
Public Relations is an organic communications strategy that relies on eye-catching, engaging and enticing storytelling created for and communicated primarily to members of the press and, by extension, the general public.
Discovery Green’s 10th Anniversary Celebration
Discovery Green is a high-profile 12-acre park in Downtown Houston, Texas whose utilization of “green” building methods, energy conservation, and sustainable, environmentally-friendly park operations earned a Gold rating from the LEED Green Building Rating System.
Developed as a public-private partnership between the City of Houston and the Discovery Green Conservancy, the park opened in April 2008 and welcomes more than 20 million visitors each year to its pristine green spaces, interactive playground, and hundreds of events.
Discovery Green hosted its largest event to date in April 2018 with a celebration of its 10th anniversary. The public relations component of The CKP Group’s vast, interdisciplinary communications strategy included efforts to garner both pre- and post-event coverage across local, regional, and national outlets. As a result of mine and my director’s efforts, the anniversary celebration received 1,561 media placements, 1.48 billion earned media impressions, and more than $18 million in publicity value for the park.

“Sky Dance” mural in Downtown Houston
“Sky Dance” is a large-scale mural in Downtown Houston, commissioned in partnership between the Houston Downtown Management District and WEDGE Group, that spans the entire façade of WEDGE Group’s parking garage. Houston’s largest mural — measuring nearly 30,000 square feet — celebrates the city’s dynamic arts and culture scene with a vibrant mosaic depicting three of Houston Ballet’s principal dancers and soloists.
Located at 1415 Louisiana St, the parking garage was originally intended to bridge twin towers, but multiple stalled projects prevented the second tower from ever being built. When the CEO of WEDGE Group, an investment firm that operates the building, decided to transform the space by commissioning international artist C. Finley, he tapped the Houston Downtown Management District (my client) to help direct the content of the mural and lead communications efforts.
This project came about when my manager at the time began her maternity leave, only three months into my tenure at The CKP Group, making it my first public relations campaign to spearhead. The local press outreach efforts resulted in XXX media placements, xxx earned media impressions, and xxx in publicity value.

The Divine Darlings Burlesque Troupe
The Divine Darlings is a Houston, TX burlesque troupe created as a space to nurture and develop new burlesque performers. Based out of Houston Divine Studio, the troupe consists of performers who have completed the dance studio’s 3-month showcase program and desire to pursue burlesque in a professional capacity.
The troupe was formalized in July 2022 and immediately began producing a monthly burlesque show, The Burly Soirée, in East Downtown Houston which features members of the troupe along with well-established Houston burlesque performers as headliners.
With the addition of The Divine Darlings and The Burly Soirée to Houston Divine Studio’s activities and offerings, year-over-year attendance doubled within 8 months of the troupe’s formation and the first Soirée.
In order to achieve that significant attendance increase, I utilized a multi-disciplinary communications strategy including public relations, organic event marketing and promotion, social media, and SEO-strategic blogging.
